Imagine yourself standing in a room with a radio. Every kind of music surrounds you in the room, you simply have to turn the dial of your radio to find the station or type of music you are looking for. They all exist in the room, but there is one in particular that you want at this time. You tune in your dial until the station/music you are looking for comes in crystal clear.
Now imagine yourself again in this room. You have a problem that you are seeking an answer for. Just like the many music stations and many songs that are filling the room, so are all the solutions or answers to your problems. They are out there, you just have to tune in to them, much like tuning in with a radio dial.
This concept has helped me so much over the last few years. It has raised my despair to hope, my unbelief to belief, my “can’ts” to “cans.” Here’s why. When I have something I am making, or am working on or even a struggle I am having, I stop and realize that the solution is out there—RIGHT NOW—surrounding me. The people, the places, the things I need are there, I just need to tune in and find the right one. This is one reason why you can srub the word “can’t” from your vocabulary. The truth is that you CAN. You are capable of solving any problem. Isn’t that EXCITING??!!!
The scriptures are full of these kinds of examples: Moses was told to flee Egypt. He argued with the Lord for quite a while telling Him that he couldn’t do it. The Lord told him that He would help him. Now imagine that you have left with thousands of people. The Red Sea is in front of you and Pharaoh’s Army is behind you. That’s a pretty big problem. But was there a solution? Is it one you would have thought of instantly? No, but the Lord provided a way—a solution. Moses didn’t know HOW he was going to get out of this problem, but he believed in the Lord. The Lord always knows HOW and sometimes His ways are bigger than we could ever imagine!
Nephi & Noah were both told to build ships—large ones and were guided as to HOW to do it. They were given a solution. The Brother of Jared needed to light some barges. He found a solution.
I’ll share in the next post some of how this worked for me with Grad Night. It is amazing to turn your problems around. Actually, it is amazing to see the Lord’s hand in your life when you turn things over to Him. I sometimes stand in awe of HOW the Lord will present a solution to even my small, insignificant problems and even some of my big ones.
Here is a simple formula that will help you understand how to implement this.
- Think about the problem you are facing now.
- Know that there is a solution for it. You may not know what it is, but you can believe the answer is out there.
- Think about the OUTCOME you are wanting to achieve. Focus on the goal, not on the problem. Write down or draw out the desired outcome or goal—what it is you want to accomplish.
- Start moving your feet. Go to work. You don’t have to be working on your struggle in particular, just start working—clean the house, take care of paper work, mow the lawn, etc.
- Listen closely. When you start moving, interesting things happen. A thought will pop into your head. “Go talk to so & so.” “Go here.” “Look up this piece of information.” A lot of times we dismiss those thoughts as silly or because we “don’t have time.” The challenge is to LISTEN to that voice.
- Go and do what you hear. You never know who or what you will come across that will be a link in finding your solution or answer.
- Keep working and moving and allow the Lord to show you HOW. Don’t try to plot out the way to the goal, just keep focused on the goal because the Lord will show you HOW. And His ways and His means are so much greater than ours. Let Him guide you and it will blow you away!
- When the answer comes, show gratitude.
